Synopsis

Album Description
In between becoming musical director for the R.A.F. and guiding the careers of Cliff Richard & Frank Ifield, British pianist and bandleader Norrie Paramor recorded these 2 incredibly lush albums for EMI in the '50s. Each utilized a string section of about 30 pieces. 'In London, In Love' actually charted at #18 in America in 1956, while 'Autumn' combined New York and autumnal themes for an air of bittersweet longing. Remastered. Collectors' Choice Music.

CD Reviews

More Paramor PLEASE

"As all the other reviewers have said, these albums are pure listening pleasure. The arrangements are quite original and like no one else's. The use of the solo soprano gives a new take on songs we thought we knew inside out and backwards. Strongly recommended. Now, as many of the other reviewers have said, could we please have some more Paramor reissues. My particular favourite is "The Zodiac Suite", a collection of beautifully varied original compositions - one for each sign of the zodiac - which definitely deserves a return to the catalogue. This treasure appeared in the UK on Columbia 33SX 1055 and is tantalisingly advertised as Capitol T 10073 in the reproduction of the original back cover of "Autumn".To go back to the CD we do have, if in doubt, buy with confidence; you are in for a treat."

"I recently came upon this album while browsing. I actually heard my mother playing "In London In Love" in the late 50s as a child, and when I saw the picture of the album jacket on Amazon, I had to order it. Floods of memories came back to me. If there is more beautiful violin orchestra music, I have yet to hear it. The other album of the two-album set, "Autumn in New York", is also very nice, but "London" is on a plateau by itself. I would like to know whose beautiful voice slips in and out of the songs on each track, and whatever happened to Norrie Paramor."
A Timeless Treasure

"Just days before Robert Kennedy was assasinated in 1968, I was getting ready for bed about 2AM and heard a remarkable recording of "Where Are You." I sat down in the floor of my living room and called Dallas radio station, KRLD, and their "Music 'Til Dawn" program to ask "Who IS that?" The DJ spoke to me at length about the music of the 1940's British Conductor-Arranger Norrie Paramor, and the "floating voice" of Patricia Clark who was identified on the album "Warm & Willing." I became a huge Norrie Paramor fan and bought most of his albums. I was thrilled to be able to puchase two of my Paramor albums on one CD from Amazon recently, and shall hope to see "Warm & Willing" released very soon. Paramor is a must for anyone who considers him or herself a hopeless romantic."
