Synopsis

Album Description
"There is a little bit of wooded landscape and bohemian artistry in Noah Georgeson's music and mixes: as part of the Bay Area art community and growing up in nearby Nevada City, California ... his music celebrates the area's independent spirit using truly independent methods." - MIX MAGAZINE Noah Georgeson is perhaps best known as a producer for Joanna Newsom, Devendra Banhart, and Bert Jansch, though he is also a member of Banhart's touring band. Find Shelter was recorded in San Francisco and Nevada City between 1999 and 2003. From the Autumn 1999 until Spring 2004, Georgeson lived in the first-floor apartment in a Victorian house on Castro Street in San Francisco. At first, he lived alone in a room that was about the right size for an infant, and had once been a nursery. After a while, he moved into the room down the hall from the nursery, which he shared with his girlfriend Joanna and her harp. Among the waves of their lives in this room, Joanna wrote most of the songs that ended up on her first album, and Georgeson wrote the songs included here.

Worth the wait

(5 out of 5 stars)

"there had been an issue getting this album to various distribution channels, which meant that i waited from mid november until mid january. the album got here about a week ago. everything on this record was written, scored, arranged, recorded and produced by noah georgeson. the guitar, vocals, piano, organ and mellotron are also all noah. the orchestral accompaniment is performed by the kite hill chamber orchestra, and you guessed it... conducted by noah.

you get a sense, as a listener, that noah georgeson knows his music, and knows it well. the pieces are all there, the roots are solidly planted, and this album was undoubtedly worth the wait."
