Nightwish's post-opera singer release features a new and up coming singer gleamed from hundreds of submittals. Nightwish blazes into new territory with "Dark Passion Play", maintaining the characteristic symphonic elements that have pervaded their albums while breathing out pent up emotions in "Bye Bye Beautiful". Furthermore, Nightwish rises into more positive notes lyrically. The bassist - as is common in metal sub-genres off the beaten track - has more time at the mike. While there are moments that made me squirm, this is a beautifully produced album and would make any fan's spine tingle!
