There are a couple of songs where you don't hear the flute as much but those songs are also showing Nicole's creativity in other ways. I enjoyed this CD as I do all of Brule's." The beauty and moving pieces of Passion Spirit are wonderful and a joy to hear at any time. It puts on display the beautful flute of Nicole. Unfortunately that is all missing in her latest effort, Deep Dreams.
Although there are moments of beautiful melodies there is certainly not enough. And even worse is that there appears to be a drastic change in direction that does not put the Nicole's talent in the flute on display. While Passion Spirit uses electric guitars to add to the mix, Deep Dreams uses the guitars to the extreme, often overshadowing the other instruments and being overbearing. I look forward to her next release and hope she returns to her Native American musical roots." |
