Studio Recording in good stereo sound
Ronald F. Payne | Alexandria, VA United States | 08/18/2008
(4 out of 5 stars)

"Opera D'Oro labels this as a Live performance. It's not. It's a good stereo studio recording from the early 70's with a terrific Bolshoi cast (Vishnevskaya, Atlantov, Nesterenko, Arkipova) and very ably conducted by Fouat Mansourov. I have the Gergiev recording as well (which has the advantage of a libretto), but I prefer this Bolshoi recording as having much more of a unique Rimsky flavor to it."
