CD Reviews

What a fantastic album
D. Christen | Rushville, IN United States | 07/14/2003
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I really like the original Nena material, which was released in the 80's - so I was a bit hesitant to the whole 're-recording' attempt. But I should not have worried : This CD is one of the best that I have heard in years. Not only are the songs still as good as they were 20 years ago, but the 'face lift' with the new production and arrangements just blew me away. Whoever worked the knobs in the recording control room is a genius. Without losing any of the original 'magic', all the songs sound brilliant, crisp, up-to-date, and the arrangements throughout the whole album left me speechless. The highlights for me are the new version of '99 Luftballons', 'Nur getraemt' (played in a high speed version), the wonderful duet with Kim Wilde 'Anyplace, Anywhere, Anytime', the new version of 'Vollmond' (with a completely new verse/chorus structure) and the haunting take on 'Es Regnet'. Even if you don't speak German, buy this album, because good music does not know any language barriers."
Review By a Philippine Nena Fan Who Understands German

"This is the platinum edition of the album 20 JAHRE NENA: NENA FEAT. NENA. The main difference between this blue platinum edition and the red original release of this album is that the platinum edition contains the album version of the Nena and friends( i.e. Joachim Witt, Udo Lindenberg, Sasha, Ben, Jasmin Tabatabai, and Helga Schneider ) song "Wunder geschehen" performed for the "Red Nose Day". The original release contains the earlier-released Söhne Mannheims Ragga Mix--Radio Edit of the song "Carpe Diem", which was originally released in the single CARPE DIEM. Although I did not purchase this platinum edition of the album, since I already purchased the original release of it, I did manage to purchase the single NENA AND FRIENDS: WUNDER GESCHEHEN( RED NOSE DAY ), which contains the following tracks:1. Wunder geschehen( Red Nose Day Radio Version )
2. Wunder geschehen( Red Nose Day Album Version )
3. Ich lieb dich immer noch
4. Wunder geschehen( Red Nose Day Enhanced Video )The second track is what is found in the platinum edition of this album, but the single provides the bonus of the radio version and the enhanced video of the song, aside from a completely new and original Nena song "Ich lieb dich immer noch", which I really like! So far, there is no other way you can get this song except through this benefit single. As I very highly recommended the original release of this album, so do I now also very highly recommend to you this platinum edition of this album, if you can really appreciate wonderful music."

"I purchased this CD while in Vienna this past summer, and it's an amazing album. It has so many classics but they're redone extremely well. I recommend this CD to everybody!"
