Because of the band's evolution over the years, I would only recommend this EP to the band's oldest fans. It's slightly edgier with fewer pop sensibilities than their most recent releases (The Weight Is A Gift, Lucky). In terms of style, it closely aligns to High/Low. Karmic is a post-grudge alternative recording and I love it for this. If you've been listening to Nada Surf since their MTV days in the mid nineties, this recording is for you. If not, the songs are still good, but don't expect it to be exactly the same as their newest stuff." Good stuff! M.
