Synopsis

Album Description
This CD presents a unique collection of Arabic and Jewish music based on religious and secular themes; all concerned with peace and love both in vertical and horizontal human relations. Besides the immortal Kol Nidrei by Max Bruch and the profound Nigun by Ernst Bloch, this CD contains original works by contemporary composers Fikred Amirot (Armenia), Elizabeth Borowsky (USA), Mohammad Sidiq (Iraq/Jordan), and Fouad Fakhouri (Lebanon/Jordan). These works were performed and recorded by prominent American, Arabic, and Jewish musicians at the International Cello Festival in Maryland (February 2001) under the leadership of the renowned cellist Cecylia Barczyk.
