CD Reviews

Why has'nt it been reviewed ? It's marvelous!

"There is a scene in Amadeus when his jealous rival Antonio Salieri is observing some original music scores of Mozart's brought to him by his crafty wife Constanza who hopes to have Mozart accepted into Royal Appointment. Salieri is breathtaken by the sheer beauty of the music. Page after page of great music. He drops them to the floor. "Is it not good ?," asks a concerend Constanza. Salieri turns to her and says, "It is miraculous." The violin concertos of Mozart examplify his ability as a symphonist and his mastership of the string. These concertos were famous during his life. They are excellent and truly mark a turning point in the Classical Era. Mozart had to have been the greatest composer in that time, next to Haydn. The violin concertos in this cd are the ONES- they made Mozart the legend he is today. The performers are truly skilled and capture the essence of the Mozart musical style, his glorious use of strings. Any fan would buy this cd.. not just of Mozart but of Classical music."
Great performances of great music.

"Mozart's violin concertos, although written when he was only 19, are among his finest works. And no violinist is more suited to do do justice to these masterpieces than Henryk Szeryng. Szeryng -- although not as famous as some others -- was one of the greatest violinists of the 20th century. Although he excelled in a wide range of repertoire -- from Vivaldi through Sibelius -- Szeryng's beautiful sweet tone and elegant performance style were especially effective in the performance of Mozart. No other violinist I've heard excels him in this repertoire. He was the consummate Mozart violinist, as these recordings attest. Highly recommended."
A remarkable Mozartian masterpiece

"I have recently bought this CD and it is undoubtly divine. Indeed, even listening to the music every day I spent 2 weeks to appreciate the four collection CDs. Each one has a special atmosphere that we have to understand well prior to advance to the next one. Doing it make us travel through the History of Music and particularly through Mozart own history. It is amazing how he was able to dramatically let his violin concert compostion style more and more sophisticated during less than an year. As a Mozart fan I strongly recommend this masterpiece as a main CD-set from the whole collection."
