This is a nice concept: pairing a great symphony with a great piano concerto. The problem is that neither performance really ranks with the best. James Levine's "Jupiter" is a good but not topnotch performance, which was recorded in diffuse, early digital sound. And Arthur Rubinstein, great pianist that he was, did not have any particular affinity for Mozart, nor is the accompaniment particularly distinguished. Mind you, this isn't bad, but you can do better. --David Hurwitz
