The brightest jewel

""The Youngest Was The Most Loved" is one of the strongest songs on "Ringleader of the Tormentors," so naturally it was destined to become a single. While I found the "You Have Killed Me" single to be completely disappointing, this one is flat out incredible. The title track seems to be slightly different than the album, most likely it's the video version. Next is "If You Don't Like Me, Don't Look At Me," which rivals "Good Looking Man About Town" from the "You Have Killed Me" single as being the best b-side so far. Then is "A Song From Under The Floorboards," a Magazine cover. He has been doing this live and the recording is just as spirited, but finally has stark clarity that was lost in the muffles of audience recordings. "Ganglord" is the last song, it's a long, drawn out rocker that reminds me of "To Me You Are A Work Of Art" with the guitar sound of "I Will See You In Far Off Places". However, this song is very very alive and Morrissey is extremely emotional and strong at the end of the song, repeating "get yourself back to the ghetto!" enthusiastically. I must say, I can't think of another time I've heard Morrissey sound so passionate. "The Youngest Was The Most Loved" is a great single overall! The bonus video is pretty bland and boring, but so are many of his recent videos, so it's not unusual."
OK Single

"First of all, "The Youngest was the Most Loved," to me, is pretty annoying. The riff isn't very catchy, and the chorus is just bad. I would never have thought that would have been a single. "The More you Ignore Me" is a single. "Suedehead" is a single. This is just crap. However, I've been a Morrissey fan long enough to know that his singles always have at least one awesome gem. Well, this one has two.

"If You Don't like Me, Don't look at Me" is similar to his very catchy You are the Quarry stuff. The way Morrissey sings "If you don't like me..." is very cool. In comparison to the other Ringleader stuff, this song sounds pretty damn good.

The best track on the record, however, is "Ganglord." The last reviewer was absolutely right. Morrissey certainly sounds more passionate on this song. The lyrics are more sophisticated as well. It just sounds very cool. It's one of those b-sides that should have been a single. It sounds similar to the opening track off Ringleader in its grand scope and awesome guitars. I think it would have been a perfect opening track for his new album, but you know Morrissey... Also, I should mention that this is one of the few new Whyte songs-- and a pretty sweet one at that.

My advice, skip the CD and just download "Ganglord" and "If You Don't Like Me, Don't Look at Me" off i-tunes."
Great CD Single!

"I wish I found this single before the import singl of the same title from England. This single has 1 more track than the other one that I purchased, "If You Don't Like Me, Don't Look At Me". I am still getting into that track, but "Ganglord", and "A Song From Under The Floorboards" are must haves for any Morrissey fan."
