CD Reviews

A Fantastic Single
Szymon | Sydney | 12/27/2005
(4 out of 5 stars)

"This one's gold, My Love Life is one of my favourite Morrissey Songs, yes, like the other reviewers say, pity and desperation. The clip is great too, just Moz and the band cruising around Phoenix in a convertible.

Skin Storm is timeless, if My Love Life is pity and desperation, then Skin Storm is fear, desperation, and desire, in a way all of it's own. Despite of or maybe because of the fact that it's a cover, it takes a few listens, the guitar and base are simply there for rythm, but it's the lyrics really make Skin Storm stand out.

'Delight,

see our faces both shining,

and I've never felt so wanted,

then when you cling with arms and legs.

Ah you tremble,

you crush my burning lips like ashes,

with so much skin to travel over,

while my head spins and you knew it would'

Morrissey just does them justice, almost like he wrote the song. I can't compare this to any thing else he's done. It's fantastic.

Changed My Plea is great too, Morrissey and the piano again....

Another really good single is Pregnant For The Last Time, you can also find Skin Storm on there, along with a live cover of Marc Bolan's Cosmic Dancer, which is well worth getting."
How Can You Argue With A Pleading Morrissey?
Christina | New Castle, De | 06/17/2000
(4 out of 5 stars)

""My Love Life", in my humble opinion, is one of Moz's most charming songs from his solo efforts. Morrissey has a clever way of translating pity and desperation into a sweet song. I feel that "My Love Life" is one of his most pleasing singles. Also, keep an ear tuned for Chrissie Hynde on backup, though her vocal presence is only minimal."
