An amazing "all-American" Requiem written for our times....

"Until now, there was no american Requiem in the History of Music... James DeMars has composed a unique piece of music which can be compared to some of the best known Requiems in the world... In fact it has been presented in Paris (France) at the Festival of Sacred Music with some of the better known and older Requiems. "An American Requiem" has been praised by people all over the world: American & Foreign Presidents, U.S. Governors, business and civic leaders, and religious dignitaries such as Mother Teresa and Pope John Paul II. This CD has been recorded at the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and four outstanding soloists: Simon Estes, Robert Breault, Linda Childs and Audrey Luna. "An American Requiem" - through its unique cross-cultural and ecumenical dimension - invites all those who embrace the ideals of peace, justice and freedom to recognize and enjoy their diversity in an inspiring spiritual light. It belongs to people of all faiths. A musical monument..."
Captivating use of rhythm, voicings and orchestration.

"From the opening Native American feel in the Canticle, to the lyrical Requiem and rhythmic manifestations of Dies Irae, the American Requiem offers the listner the pure feellings of spirit and hope. This can also be said of the inner drive offered to America offered by JFK, and to that extent, this piece reflects his energy."
A Requiem to Call our Own

"For most National memorial events, Mozart's Requiem has been the only choice. But as Americans we need something that belongs to our rich culture. Our culture has soo many memories and tragedies. D-Day, Pearl Harbor, September 11th, and tragedies such as the LA Riots. It's time to say move over Mozart. We have our own requiem, and that requiem is the "DeMars American Requiem.""
