"I am really pleased with this set. Once upon a time, I owned most of this material on LPs. That mountain of vinyl is long gone, so I'm glad to get the music back on CD. While the playback of 1960s recordings is not the best, the content is wonderful, young Caballe. The music is heavy on Spanish and German art songs, with a little bit of Debussy in the mix. The German is especially significant; Caballe gives us her favorite composers--especially Strauss. At this period of her career (she was 30 and 31 years old at the time), Caballe's presentation of the German material is especially fresh and absolutely gorgeous. For 34 tracks of important song literature and historic Montserrat Caballe, you just can't beat this for the price."
