CD Reviews

Perfect for a mood swing

"Wonderful single to have! Besides the original first two tracks, the third track concentrates on her vocals-undoubtingly beautiful and captivating. The fourth has a mysterious groove to the song that's somewhat meloncholic, even flowing to the spiritual. But the last track is more upbeat and lively, perfect if you are in a hurry to get somewhere :) Gotta have CD for our complex individualities... ~Peace~"
80's meets 90's with 2000 twist.

"As I said in my review of CD1, trying to compare "Life in Mono" to another song is very difficult... the only one that comes to mind is Portihead's "Sour Times."This EP CD, like CD1, includes 4 different versions of "Life in Mono." The first is the radio edit of the song. The second is a remix by the Propellerheads (which is my favorite of the remixes!). Third comes a remix by Mr Natural, and fourth is LHOOQ's remix. Two of the remixes bear little resemblance to the original song, but the Propellerheads mix... yummy.
The radio edit is dramatic and layered, clean yet dark.
The Propellerheads have created a deliciously funked version. Its simple and jazzy nature twist BEAUTIFULLY with the lyrics. This version grapples with the original as best of the bunch. (Between this one and the first track, your money is WELL spent.)
Mr Natural creates an odd mix of textures. This remix takes a long time to get going, but once it does, it grooves nicely.
LHOOQ has mixed a version that pales in comparison to the other two. All the right pieces are there, but some are over done and some are... annoying.I love this CD. I can't compliment the first two tracks enough. Be sure to check out CD1 as well!"
