"this is pure heavy metal for all who have a true appreciation of the finest in every genre. in the tradition of judas priest or diamond head, mind over 4 play stripped-down but incredibly powerful metal with real pride and artistic zeal. their lyrics are amazing, conjuring awesome images and invoking extreme emotional states, and the playing... wow!
a californian 4 piece who never got their due (especially in the UK), MO4 were led by stupefying vocal acrobatics and searing guitar work.
Their 1st album doesn't work for me, the 2nd, the goddess, is utterly beautiful but suffers from weak production. but this, half way down, is awesome. produced by mat hyde, it's probably the richest and most diverse true heavy metal album ever (although I haven't heard the one after, empty hands). words can't do it any justice, just do yourself a favour and get a copy. like i said, it's pure heavy metal as it should be: fierce, artistic, emotional, intelligent and devoid of all the silly agression and childish fantasy imagery which blights so much of this genre."

"I absolutly love this album!!! I got into Mind Over Four when I saw the name on Phil Anselmo's t-shirt on the back cover of Pantera's Vulgar Display of Power CD. I was interested in hearing something Phil liked. Luckily this album was out and I picked it up. It reaks of progressive guitar riffs and extremely unique vocal stylings. there's nothing mainstream about this album. All prog-rockers and metal heads alike should get this album!!"
