(5 out of 5 stars)

"Michel Petrucciani - The Complete Blue Note Recordings is a must own for serious Petrucciani fans. There are 7 discs in this collection and they are the following:

Pianism

Michel Plays Petrucciani

Music

Promenade With Duke

Playground

Power of Three

Live

I will say this set is not complete. This set was released in 1999 and two albums "100 Hearts" and "Live at the Village Vanguard" were just recently released. Why Blue Note didn't include these two albums? I'm not sure, but despite that, this is a fantastic box set.

You can buy it from Amazon for their list price of $60 and you can get the free shipping and you already saved money trying to hunt down and find these individual albums. The great thing I like about this collection is the packaging. All the cds are in standard jewel cases and include original artwork for each album. I was very impressed with this.

The music from this collection speaks for itself, but let me just say if you haven't heard Petrucciani before you are missing out on one of the finest jazz pianists since Bill Evans. What impressed me with Michel is his passion and heart he put into every note. One of the finest pianists to walk this planet. He was also a man of fine musical taste. Every album he's done for Blue Note is amazing. From start to finish, you can't go wrong with a Petrucciani album.

I highly recommend this album for fans of his music who are having a hard time finding these albums and better yet for fans who want to buy alot of Petrucciani albums in one shot. I also recommend his albums on Owl Records and Dreyfus Records both French labels. His second album for Owl Records simply called "Michel Petrucciani" I would recommend for first time listeners, it has been re-released and remastered by Sunny Side Records. Jazz piano at it's finest.
