Synopsis

Album Description

2007 digitally remastered two-fer from the Folk Rock singer/songwriter featuring two albums on one disc. Her first album Born To Be was released in 1968 (and re-issued in 1970 as My First Album) and features a mix of multi-influenced originals alongside covers of Dylan's 'Mr. Tambourine Man' and A.A Milne's 'Christopher Robin (Is Saying HisPrayers)'. It received critical acclaim in both the US and the UK. Affectionately Melanie (released October 1969) was recorded in London with Donovan's arranger John Cameron and demonstrates Melanie's fast-developing talents as a songwriter. Edsel.

"Being able to purchase these classic albums on CD

is an unexpected gift. Melanie Safka is truly the most under-appreciated talent of all the female vocalists of this era. Her ability to transition into so many musical genres is masterfully demonstrated on these two albums.....and THE VOICE....so different from

everyone else! Melanie's voice is truly what sets her apart. To some it is an acquired taste but to me it is

haunting, powerful and beautiful all at the same time.

If you appreciate music which expresses a myriad of emotions projected through a powerful,unique and timeless voice then this CD package is for you.
