Great Guide To This Band, but wish there was more here....
aaron | ontario | 03/05/2003
(4 out of 5 stars)

"M C A , no longer a holder since 1999 of the Maverick's, decided to honour them with a release of some of their best work. Raul's voice projects better than almost any voice out there. His smooth and thick voice is one to be listened to, whether educational or for enjoyment. Paul Deakin, a first class drummer, doesn't show off like an animal, yet can still pack a whallop in songs like "What A Crying Shame" or touch down teardrops with brushes on his kit in the magnificant "I Should Have Been True". Robert Reynolds also knows how to build a song without overdoing it, like his bouncy-bass in "Dance The Night Away". And Nick Kane is a craftsman, with simple, yet careful skill in the 12 stringed " Here Comes The Rain" or the incredible innovation of patting (instead of strumming)chords in the lullabye version of a classic " Blue Moon". THese guys pack great skill, yet relax on keeping it simple, innovvative.Sadly, a few essential songs are missed here, like "To Be With You", or "A Better WAy".Nonetheless, A great guide to the Mavericks...."
Ok...but super colossal smash hits of the 90s was better

"This album does contain my favorite Maverick's song, Dance the Night Away, but why would they release another greatest hits album only a year and a half after their last one? Super Colossal Smash Hits of the 90's included 12 tracks, not just 10 and was an even better all around album. If you are a die-hard Maverick's fan, get this album, but if you want a good introduction to their awesome sound, try the Super Colossal Smash Hits of the 90s cd."
Great band/ Great singer

"I'm not a big fan of country music, but The Mavericks are a great band. They have a great singer in Raul Malo. It's one of those records you can listen all the way, without having to skip certain tracks. You won't go wrong spending your money in this cd."
