Marty Mellows Like Fine Wine

"`I bought this album 20 years ago when it was first issued and was delighted to obtain it recently on CD. All Around Cowboy is full of great songs, and includes many Robbins compositions. Marty's rich, manly voice has only gotten better over the years. My favorites are the title cut, Buenos Dias Argentina and a reworked version of the classic San Angelo. All three feature horns evocative of mariachi. Though San Angelo has a storyline and a flow similar to the better-known El Paso, it has enough musical merit to stand on its own as a classic. All Around Cowboy and Buenos Dias Argentina rate among the best Robbins has ever done. When I'm Gone, Lonely Old Bunkhouse, and The Ballad of a Small Man hark back to Robbins' early style. Adding to the enjoyment is an excellent rendition of Tumbling Tumbleweeds. Though the album lacks the earnest immediacy of some of Robbins' earliest work, it is lush and relaxed showing that Robbins, like fine wine, has mellowed with age."
Marty, the all around cowboy

"Marty Robbins was the consummate balladeer. His songs puts you in the heart of the time and the action. Although I love all his music, this album quickly became my favourite from the first track. I especially love "Pride and the badge"and "ballad of a small man". His music will live on forever because I have my children singing his songs too. He will never be replaced."
