Synopsis

Album Description
A Classic Marshall Tucker Album Newly Remastered The title Greetings From South Carolina is a bit of a misnomer, as it was really the end of an era for MTB. It was their final record for Warner Bros. and it also signaled the end of the original phase of the group, with Toy Caldwell and other founding members leaving the fold after its release. Greetings is the most country-influenced of all of MTB?s albums, full of band-written tunes in both the wistful and the rollicking modes.

CD Reviews

It's got the goods!

"As was the case with many folks my age, I fell in love with the Marshall Tucker Band during their stay with Capricorn Records. Then, as the 70s waned, many of us were swept up in the punk and new wave movements. I was pretty oblivious to the post-Capricorn MTB recordings. BIG MISTAKE! Thankfully these recordings have been rereleased and we have the opportunity to revisit some of the most timeless music of the past few decades. GREETINGS is the final recording Toy Caldwell made with the band. While this disc may not have the surging power of some other MTB releases, it is an album of immense beauty. Vocalist Doug Gray is in fine form and the instrumental backing is deft and tasteful. If you've ever loved MTB, this CD will surely find a cherished place in your collection."

"The typical down-home music of the Marshall Tucker Band. It is a great CD. We have most of their "old 33 1/3 albums" and they are great. Marshall Tucker shares alot of wonderful memories with me, saw them several times in concert. I miss the Caldwells!! Doug Gray has an exceptional voice!!"

"Not their best work. Vocals are way out front, and the tunes sound like your average country band. Last tune on CD resembles the old MT sound with Toy playing more solo guitar."
