CD Reviews

A great series - and a helpful tip..or two...
Jerry Rutledge | Minnesota | 07/09/2009
(5 out of 5 stars)

"If you're a collector of music by obscure, Romantic composers then you must have ALL of the Hyperion Romantic piano concerto series. Never mind if they aren't as tuneful as Rachmaninoff or Tchaikovsky or Grieg. These are lovely works that you're not likely EVER to hear in the Albert Hall or Lincoln Center. There are now 48 CDs in this marvelous series (number 50 will be released next year and to my surprise it will be our own Minnesota Orchestra doing the Tchaikovsky works for piano and orchestra.....) I would have picked something far more obscure, but who can complain ???

Here's the tip: If you missed some of these (and they're discontiuued and you can't find them in the cut out bin) try googleing Berkshire Record Outlet......bargain bin prices, but don't wait too long.

Second tip: If you love this series as much as I do, Google Hyperion Records and send them an email telling them how much you enjoy the series. They're one of the few companys on the Net that'll actually respond....."
Rare recording..............

"Only recording of his music. Nicely recorded with a good soundstage. Piano to Orchestra Balance is GREAT. Rich sound on the piano. If you can find it get it."
