CD Reviews

Very good, but where is "Dewey's Theme"?

(5 out of 5 stars)

"I am so dissapointed not to find the one piece I was truly hoping would be on this CD. The great theme from "Broken Arrow", which was used throughout "Scream 2" as "Dewey's Theme". Duane Eddy's great guitar sounded so strangely perfect in this context...it just made the film for me. Marco Beltrami's score is lovely, but Hans Zimmer really nailed this one. And let's have more of Duane Eddy on film soundtracks in the future!!!"
Excellent, but REALLY short!

"This CD is unbeatable, but where is everything? There's a lot of stuff missing and the tracks are really short! Cici Creepies is pretty scary, but it gets kinda boring. They should have had the part where she's being chased! And what about Casey's death? It's not on here along with others like Tatum's death and the big scene at the end of Scream 2. (my favorite ending in any movie)However, what Beltrami lacks in length makes up with quality. I like the way he has really low brass and really high trumpets! My favorite track on here is Love Turns Sour. It gives a real strong sense of fear. This song was also used in the car scene on Halloween H20. I would strongly recommend this along with his other masterpiece, MIMIC."
Nice try, Varese!

"This has got to be the mother of all bad soundtrack releases! The score itself is fantastic. Why I gave this album 1 star is because it is a 2 scores on 1 CD, and its total is 30:00! This is not the fault of Varese Sarabande... Let's just hope an expanded release surfaces some day. It's doubtful, but one can still hope.I would suggest not picking this up unless you are a die hard fan of these scores. And the SCREAM 3 album ain't too much better either."
