"The conductor, Otmar Suitner, was not one of the internationally celebrated stars of Cold War East Germany, but he was a fine conductor, and the combination of his direct but sensitive approach, one of the world's greatest ensembles and the acoustics of the Dresden studio (probably the Church of St. Luke, which was rebuilt specifically for recording) makes this one of my favorite recordings of any early-modern work. This is not a recording I'd ever seen in a shop, so hats off to Amazon.com for making it available."
