CD Reviews

Expected more

"With such a price tag, you would expect more than just fancy box-covers. But thats all you get with this one. Yet, for Madonna fans, this may be the ultimate collector's item. The music is excellent, and the packaging is stare-worthy too. However, I sort of expected the CD to carry more than just the standard 10 tracks - it would have been nice if this Limited Edition carried 'Cyberraga' and 'American Pie' - but thats asking for too much, I guess. If you're a serious collector, go for it, as this item is now out-of-print, and will only get more expensive as time goes by."
A great album with great packaging...need I say more?

"It was about eight months ago when my best friend got this new "limited edition" version of the Matchbox Twenty album "Mad Season." It had such cool packaging. It was just like a small hard-covered book with about 20 pages of photos. At the end, you found the CD attached by only a circular piece of foam. I said to myself, "Why can't an artist I like put out something like this? Someone like Madonna (my all-time favorite artists)." Time passed and I bought the regular version of the "Music" CD when it came out. From the first time I heard it I though it was one of Madonna's best albums. I especially loved "Music", "Amazing", "Don't Tell Me", and "Gone". Some more time passed and then I found out that Madonna put out a special edition of this "Music" album. I didn't even know what it looked like. All I knew was that it came in four different colors that varied in rarity (black, grey, tan, and rose in no specific order) and that there were only a total of 20,000 copies made. I figured that I would get it since I liked the "Music" album so much and I thought it would be cool to own something so rare. I called all the music stores by my house--Wherehouse, Tower, Sam Goody, Record Town--none of them had it! So I went on ebay to see if I could bid on any. There were a few auctions for this CD but the prices were outrageous. Then I came to this site. I was just browsing through different Madonna items and I found it available to buy for the regular retial price! Even though the color is sent at random, I was excited to finally be owning one of these limited CD's. It arrived a week later and I couldn't wait to open it. The cover they sent me was grey which I am happy about because I think that the grey one is the nicest of them all. I opened the CD and found that it was the exact same as that Matchbox Twenty CD I saw at my friend's house a while ago. It had the hard covers, the photo book, and even the circular piece of foam with the CD at the end! I was so thrilled that Madonna put out something like this and that I owned one of only 20,000 made! This a great album with a great package that is extremely rare...need I say more?"
MUSIC Sounds better with MADONNA

"Following the multi-platinum success of 1998's Ray of Light, Madonna follows up with a brand new album which is less introspective. Music is edgier. Several tracks of the album like Gone and I Deserve It are acoustic efforts not unlike One More Chance from STR. On both songs, Madonna's inner feelings are revealed and are closest in mood and content to Drowned World from ROL. The best track must be What It Feels Like A Girl which would put teenyboppers like Britney and Christina to shame. Madonna explains how hard it is (for her) to challenge the odds and rise to the occasion as a girl/woman. Other star tracks include the funky amalgamation of guitar and beats on Don't Tell Me and the Beautiful Stranger-sequel Amazing. Overall, a less serious effort than its predecessor and will inevitably draw comparisons beytween the two. The key is to listen with an open mind, and remembering that both CDs are totally different in content and concept. The limited edition comes with more pictures and a 4-different color cover with a MUSIC logo embossed onto the digipak cover. Stunning particularly the black!"
