"It's hard to go wrong with 10 CDs of Louis Armstrong, and this box proves it; there's no logic to the assembly of the set, tunes are placed in random order, live tunes next to studio tunes, later material preceding earlier songs, digitized needle-drop transcriptions next to digitized tapes, there's no rhyme or reason to any of it, and no liner notes to clue the listener in on who's Louis' backup band for the session orgins. Uneven? Yes! Worth purchasing? It depends on your fondness for the entirity of Armstrong's catalog. You take the astonishingly great with the merely good (but never bad). Due to gray areas in the different public domain laws from country to country, this sort of set can be legally manufactured in it's home country, but export for sale in countries with different copyright laws is probably of a dubious legal nature. Take advantage of it while you can."
