. This album was originally broadcast from the Hollywood Empire in Hollywood in April 1949 featuring of course Louie, Jack Teagarden, Barney Bigard, Earl Hines, Arvell Shaw, and Sid Catlett. Quality is excellent - 71+ minutes. The group was at the top of their game. On May 10th as a 16 year old I was able to enjoy this same group at the Falcon Bowl in Detroit. Event was free and sponsored by WJR Radio - only about 20 kids showed up to hear the group perform for 90 minutes and then meet Louie and the All Stars and shoot the breeze for about an hour. Louie was just Louie!!! What a thrill and will always remember. " |
