CD Reviews

Lou - The Comedy Album
Bob G. | Los Angeles | 03/26/2002
(4 out of 5 stars)

"I saw this tour and what a wonderful souvenir of "Lou Reed - Standup Comedian." Though there are powerful moments musically, this album is best known for Lou's rants about critics, his verbal abuse of the audience and talking through and about the songs, NOT singing them. When I saw Lou a few years ago at record signing, he would only sign his latest disc, and then it was only a crudely scrawled "LR". I handed him this album (on vinyl) and he wrote, "To Bob- Thanks, Lou Reed". I think that says it all."
Lou at his wasted best

(4 out of 5 stars)

"This is classic live Lou Reed. He is wasted and wired, just the way we love him.

He ad lib's really well on most tracks and is bloody funny as he is so wired he can't shut up between songs.

This is pure unrehearsed live rock n roll.

No Lou Reed collection is complete without Take No Prisoners."
