"How could I have missed Lou Rawls all of my life?

Do you really think that Donovan does a good version of "Season of the Witch?" Not after you listen to Lou Rawls groove it up to the max. Having this scion of smooth cover some of the best material of the early '70s is an enriching and deeply satisfying experience.

You haven't heard music until you've heard the best version of BST's "you've made me so very happy." It is the soulfulest, grooviest version that could ever be imagined in heaven or hell, and that is no hyperbole. It was used as a sample (I've forgotten where) and belongs in that sampling pantheon that includes Tom Scott's "today" and Bob James' "nautilus." Otis and Stax is soulful? Aretha is soulful? No, they merely combine technical expertise with songs written in the soul style. Only Lou Rawls sings real soul."
