"ELIS REGINA is not only a singer, she's a legend. Every song she touched became pure gold. I have no doubt to assure that ELIS is the most wonderful female voice Brazil ever had. If you never heard ELIS, you are missing a lot. This CD (first, on the vynil format) was only released after her premature death, at the age of 37, on 1982. ELIS didn't like the way she sang on this show, so she never allowed the release of the recording during her life. But be sure, she was wrong. Every interpretation of the CD is delightful. She took the best of brazilian music and gave her own genial touch. From the classical Ary Barroso's "Na Baixa do Sapateiro" to the most modern "Cobra Criada", every track is a superb mix of thecnic and emotion. On this show, ELIS was surrounded by some of the best musicians Brazil had at this time, including Helio Delmiro, Paulinho Braga, Chico Batera, Luisão and the sensational Cesar Camargo Mariano, who was responsable for the arrangements of the best interpretantions ELIS gave along her fabulous carreer. Almost 25 years after her death, brazilian music is still searching another voice to replace her diva. I suspect it will never be found.
