Synopsis

Album Description
The GMWA Choir continues the legacy of the late James Cleveland with LIVE IN KANSAS CITY 2004. This latest installment in the GMWA Choir recordings was recorded during the August 2004 GMWA Convention in Kansas City, MO. This project brings together the unique blend of sounds from the Women?s, Men?s, Youth, and Mass Choirs of the GMWA. From rich vocals to uplifting songs, LIVE IN KANSAS CITY 2004 moves the gospel and non gospel music listener. Tracks such as Hallelu, Hallelujah and I Was Glad take you back to that down home hand clapping, halleluiah church experience.

CD Reviews

The GMWA It Their Best
Dominick Keys | Union City, CA | 09/26/2006
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This CD has got to be the best one they have every made and i have just about every CD the GMWA Choirs have made. My favorite songs are just about every song on the CD, but the very best are When I See the Blood and Blood Restoreth My Soul are nice songs on how the blood is what saves and heals our souls from the hands of Satan. That's Who You Are is a nice worship Song. Got What I Needed is a good churchy song that makes you want to get your shout on. Saftey is nice song i was so moved by this song when i first heard it. I Need Thee is one of them old testimonial songs which is what Bishop Albert Jamison made it into when he testified about losing his son then sang like i never heard him sing before. The last song Your Testimony Starts With A Test is my favorite song on the CD. I keep playing this song over and over again. I start shoutin' everytime i hear this song because it reminds me of where the lord has brought me from and what i had to go through to get to where i am now. This CD is a must have for Choirs fans and anyone who loves good gospel music."
Exceptional CD...

"If you are at all familiar with the GMWA, you have longed for this CD. It is the culmination of exceptional efforts by exceptional talents. The GMWA is comprised of what must be considered the creme de la creme of gospel music in the US, indeed the world, as there have been singers from Europe and Asia in their Mass Choir. Anyone who is someone in Gospel Music has passed through their workshop at some time, yes, including Kirk Franklin, Kurt Carr, Donald Lawrence, the Winans, J.Moss, Byron Cage, Marvin Sapp and too many others to name. And the workshop choirs have been made up of the directors, musicians, singers, etc. from many of the churches throughout the US where gospel music is the foundation for musical praise, worship and inspiration. This CD exemplifies that and more.

If it's Praise and Worship you want just start at the beginning with the uplifting and vibrant "Hallelu, Hallelujah". It will make you stand up, clap your hands and sing along with the choir. You say you're feeling down and need inspiration; listen to "Wait" and know that "my blessing is coming soon." It is such a joy to know that no matter where you are in your spiritual day, indeed life, there is something on this CD for YOU. What, say you're worried about something going wrong in your life, read Psalms 91 and listen to "Safety" which quotes directly from that passage of scripture. It is one of the most powerful songs and messages you will hear..."when the storms of life are raging in MY life, I run into the Master's arms." You can be in His safety.

While I clearly have my favorites on this CD, including "The Blood of Jesus Restoreth" and "When I See The Blood" (see Exodus 12 for Biblical support), I can only give it 5 stars because that is the limit. But read these two last comments. One: I am calling my spiritual brother in Phoenix and telling him to buy it and if he doesn't like it, I will give him his money back. In the many years (40+) I have known him I have only made this offer once before. On that occassion he bought and said "Thank you, so much." Second: So, what's bad about this CD??? Here it is: GMWA just finished the 2005 workshop and about this time next year I would expect to see/hear the Milwaukee Live 2005 CD. Problem? How to equal or surpass such an awesome CD as this one.

Buy it. You WILL love."
