CD Reviews

Purchased this CD after their performance
'70s survivor | South Dakota,United States | 02/26/2002
(5 out of 5 stars)

"After seeing the Lettermen perform, I purchased this CD out in the lobby. I think that it is just hauntingly beautiful. They performed two of the songs that are on the CD. I know previous reviewers said they didn't like the solos. Of course, I love their beautiful harmony, but their solos are really something else. I have never heard such voice control as I have with these three. Darrin Dowler's "Go the Distance" is incredibly powerful. Donovan Scott Tea sings John Lennon's "In My Life," so beautifully, but the most outstanding solo is Tony Butala's, "Days of Wine and Roses." And their joint effort in "Windmills of Your Mind," will give you goosebumps. The Lettermen have really made an effort to keep up with the times. Their harmony is even tighter and more complex than in their older recordings. If you're looking for another "Summer Place," this may not be the CD for you, but if you want a more polished and professional performance (after all, they're not college kids anymore...but show business veterans) you will truly enjoy this CD."
Still a perfect blend

"After a long search I finally found this long awaited new effort from the veteran masters of 3-part harmony. The guys offer a great combination of solos and harmonies, and the accapello numbers, such as "Windmills" are especially outstanding. Throughout their 40-plus year career the Lettermen have demonstrated incredible taste in selecting from among the popular tunes of the times. The movie themes album is no exception, so no listener should hesitate to add this to their collection."
A SUPER Blend of the Lettermen PLUS the BEST Solos

"I've been a mobile Disc Jockey for almost 20 years---and the Lettermen are the Ultimate group----fantastic blend as a group--and unbelieveable sound as individuals!! Tony Butala has kept the original sound from 1961 intact!! It's amazing---I've seen live shows of the Lettermen from 1966 to 2004----he keeps up with the times BUT also maintains the original group's integrity!!
The performance on the CD is 5 Stars---but you really should see a live performance to appreciate the hard work this group exudes!! I just saw them for about my 20th time at the Thunder Valley Casino in Lincoln CAon 2-29-04--right above Sacramento CA--and the entire audience gave them about a 3 minute standing ovation at their conclusion and also standing ovations throughout the concert!! The songs on this CD that I personally like best were "My Heart Will Go On", "Windmills of Your Mind", "Music Of Goodbye", "Go The Distance", and "Valentine"----BUT they are ALL "Fantastic"!! Don't be without this CD!!!"
