(4 out of 5 stars)

"These are recordings apparently made from 1953 radio broadcasts in Hollywood. (The applause sounds added.) This is arguably Brown's best band, and a few of the tracks, like Montoona Clipper, are truly outstanding. Even with a slightly muted sound emanating from old tapes, the musicians soar. Ray Sims and Don Fagerquist (oh, that trumpet section!)are especially outstanding.Margaret Whiting contributes several vocals, as do Johnny Mercer, Stumpy Brown, Jo Ann Greer, and (if you can believe it) cowboy singer Jimmy Wakley. The latter is awful, but the others, especially Whiting, are in good form. Well worth the money, Les Brown fans."
