CD ReviewsNeither Klemperer's best nor his worst, but still Klemperer En.N | California, USA | 03/15/2009 (5 out of 5 stars) "Klemperer's last studio recordings were of small Mozart works, far less familiar repertoire that he seldom performed; not so here, where in his last live concert he conducts Beethoven and Brahms, probably the two composers most identified with the mature Klemperer. This recording is more of interest as a historic document than as Klemperer's definitive view on two works that he performed many times during his long career. His tempi are a bit less steady than in his best studio recordings and there is a bit too much waywardness in his dynamics. Still, it is still impressive how he still commands his orchestra and how he remains true to the music in his last public performance.
