CD Reviews

A Fun, Energetic Hook-Filled Affair
Cory T. Shaeffer | Pittsburgh | 10/31/2009
(5 out of 5 stars)

"With the departure of vocalist Evi Goffin, Lasgo has not missed a beat. Actually, the new vocalist, Jelle Van Dael, has a more melodic voice that is suitable for this type of music, which I would describe as euro-dance pop. From the onset, it is evident that these songs are not 100% original, but they are all quite good, particularly the hit single "Lost," an instant dance-pop classic. Other singles from the album have been released over the past year ("Out of My Mind" and "Gone") and are excellent as well.

This is another in a long line of excellent dance records released in the latter half of 2009 (Cascada's "Evacuate the Dancefloor", Kim Sozzi's "Just One Day", Velvet's 'The Queen", and Kristine W's "The Power of Music", Bananarama's "Viva") and the genre has not seen this kind of life injected into it in quite some time, particularly with the explosion of Lada Gaga onto the scene. This album by Lasgo stacks right up there with the ones I have mentioned, and the production is outstanding as well. Out of the twelve tracks, eleven are worth repeated listens. The songcraft is by far their finest out of all their albums to date. Even if you are strictly a fan of Goffin, this still might be worth checking out.

This is a great entry into a genre that is rapidly coming to life once again."
