CD Reviews

Las ketchup, Just Plain Fun
brett3739 | Des Moines, IA United States | 06/17/2004
(4 out of 5 stars)

"If you're looking for deep or 'meaningful' music skip this one.
The ketchup Song isn't deep or meaningful but it IS fun.The beat of the music and the lyrics go together well and are easy to listen to (and dance to as well).
With 4 versions of the same song (the ketchup song) it truly isn't the best value for your money (as far as the number of songs for the dollar), but the other 7 songs are good ones.
All the songs are upbeat, fast paced, 'feel good' songs that are easy on the ears and fun to lsten to. For simple, easy listening fun I recommend it."
It's all "Asereje Hippy" (the Ketchup Song)...

"It was 2003 and I was at La Terrace(sp?) which is this enormous castle in the city of Barcelona that has this huge outdoor disco in it. Well, when this song came on ("Asereje Hippy"), you'd think it was some signal of the Second Coming; people went nuts. It was a bench clearing song, everyone was up, gyrating their hands, their gorgeous Spanish hips...ah, needless to say this song has a very positive association for me......for others, it just makes them want to vomit. I totally understand, there have been plenty of ultra-pop party songs that trigger a similar gag reflex for me. Consider liking it for what it is, fun, dumb, and absolutely addictive. The Ketchup Song is really the only reason you should buy this album; it constitutes some 40% of the CD (in various versions of which I like #6 the best). For those 8 people outside the US (and the many younger club-going folks within the US)that haven't heard this CD...consider buying if you can't get the single. All others, steer clear."

"It's all about the song "Asereje Hippy" - a contagious little dance number that is catchy and makes you want to learn the dance. It was time to replace the Macarena anyway. I'll be playing this song at my next dance party!"
