Embarrassing typo here: the title is "Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun", not "Aftermath". The faun does go to sleep at the end, but only to dream, not pass away!
The Boulez recording of this work, as is usual with Boulez, is state of the art, conducted and performed impeccably, perfectly capturing the unique mood and original orchestration of this piece.
