Synopsis

If one were to read the liner notes before taking a listen, it would be possible to get the impression that Kristine W's Stronger is something a bit beyond the what the Pamela-Lee-meets-Britney-Spears images of the singer seem to promise. Claiming saxophone duty on a few tracks and cowriting credit on the majority of them, Ms. W seems perhaps poised to push the dance-pop envelope. She doesn't. From the opening track's dirty synth throb to the honeyed delivery of less-than-revolutionary lyrics ("all that glitters is not gold," "when you need a little shelter, you can run into these arms of mine"), and from the whooshes and zings to the requisite build-ups and break-downs, one gets the feeling that we've been here quite a few times before. This in itself is perhaps not a problem. Fans of sweet and peppy club-diva shenanigans could very well eat this stuff up, on especially the slightly gutsier latter half of the record. Anyone else is apt to go into sugar-shock after a few tracks. --Bob Michaels

"Another Great Dance Artist, Lost due to lack of promotion.
This was a great follow-up cd. I love her Style. She has a great voice! (A Lisa Stansfield / Anastacia style.)
This is one of those cd's you find yourself falling in love with the more you listen to it. If you like Dance music, or Ballad style music...You will like many of the songs on here!"
The whitest Black woman I have ever heard!!!

"When I first heard the "Land of the Living" video playing at Rich's in Houston, everybody ran to the dance floor. Then I tried to look at the video and was totally blown away at the strong, gospel-like voice coming from this beautiful white woman. Her voice control, inflection, tone and emotion put into the song almost made me cry right there!! I was immediately a fan of this soon to be discovered diva. And here we are three years later and she is still astounding all of us with her great talent. I can't wait for her next album release which I'm sure will be pure ear candy!!"

"I bought Land Of The Living and Stronger within 2 weeks of each other. I listened to Land of the Living and thought it was absolutely amazing. I get Stronger and two things threw me off...first off, she was a blonde and looked nothing like she did on her Living cover, and second, most of the songs on Stronger sound like something I would expect to hear on a Britney Spears album. The only tracks that especially stoo out for me were "Clubland" (the jazz feel makes it sound like a sequel to "Jazzin'" on her Living album), "Waters Run Deep" (I didn't know she could play sax, go 'head grrl!), and "Let Love Reign" (only because the first 20 seconds of it sounds like the beginning of a drum 'n' bass track). I appreciate the effort, but she can do better. Another reason why I gave this album 3 staqrs was because sometimses a bad producer can make or break an album. Rollo was partly responsible for her masterpiece Land of the Living, and is NOWHERE to be found here. Like I said, Kristine can do much better."
