Thaddeus Burns | 09/21/2009 (5 out of 5 stars) "Apart from a few "Best of" compilations, music albums usually contain a couple of tracks that most people will skip, or will enjoy much less than the others. In many cases, the majority of tracks on an album are merely filler.
This is not even remotely the case with Kona Triangle. I imagine there must be a mountain of unused material sitting somewhere, because this album is clearly meant to be the cream of the crop. There is not a track on here that I will skip. Personally, I think this album blows everything by Flying Lotus out of the water, while tapping into that style, and fusing it with a tropical aura and melodies that would make Boards of Canada blush. I will be surprised if I don't start hearing Kona Triangle and Lone tracks on Adult Swim's "bumps". This is pure wizardry. I hope the remix of Loafe and Merge is a sign that we will see an album from them too. Music is getting so good. In summation: Buy this FANTASTIC album!" |
