The ''scenic oratorio'' A King / Riding is a major electroacoustic opera based on the novel ''The Waves'' by Virginia Woolf, and also includes texts from three poems of Fernando Pessoa as commentary (comparable to the chorales in the Bach Passions). A King / Riding follows, as does the book, the lives of six persons. Perceval, a seventh, silent figure in the thoughts of the others, also has an important role to play. Do they appear to take their identity for a large part from their relationship with this (perhaps imaginary) hero? Vocal and instrumental music is performed in the shadow of live electronics that through means of sound-color, delay and acceleration react to the music and stage action.
