KISS delivers another winner.
Rock N Rolla | Detroit Rock City, Michigan | 11/16/2009
(5 out of 5 stars)

"No more makeup. No more outlandish costumes (Well, that's debatable. Just look at some of the freaky getups they wore in the videos for this album. Yikes!). But the hard rockin' stayed, and welcomely so. This album is another superb KISS album, in my book. It includes everything that makes a KISS album great, awesome vocals, great guitar riffs, and amazing beats. The addition of Eric Carr as drummer, and the talents of lead guitarist Vinnie Vincent, really gave KISS a powerful 80's era feel to it's music.

Standout tracks are Exciter, Not For The Innocent, Lick It Up, Young and Wasted, All Hell's Breakin' Loose, Fits Like a Glove, and And on the 8th Day."

""Lick It Up" is one of the most underrated albums in the history of rock and roll. This is a must own for anyone that is a fan of classic rock or 80's hair metal. The album is absolutely a beast, I mean Gene songs sound mean. Pauls songs have a great energy.

The album starts off with "Exciter", a song that starts off with an epic intro. The vocals by Paul are top notch, and the guitar solo leaves you remembering what you just heard. Catchy song, but not even one of the best on the cd.

"Not for the Innocent" starts Gene's songs off the way all of Gene's songs sound on this cd, loud, mean, and tough as nails. Gene Simmons growl never sounded so brutal, this is what rock and roll is supposed to sound like. This is what Heavy Metal shoul sound like.

"Lick It Up" is one most anyone has heard at this point, it's another "anthem" song by KISS. KISS likes to squeeze these in on every album, and this one was a home run. In my opinion not the best song on the album, but very catchy nonetheless.

"Young and Wasted" is one of Gene's most brutal sounding rude sounding songs I've ever heard. There's nothing, and I mean nothing, like hearing Gene Simmons scream at the top of his lungs with those thunderous guitar riffs in the background. Rock and Roll has, and never will sound better than this.

"Gimme More" while still an energetic and fun song, is in my opinion the weakest track on the album. That's not saying much though. The song starts off with a smoking guitar riff and Paul Stanley screams like the maniac that he is from the start, to the finish. Very "Under The Gun" ishhh.

"All Hells Breakin' Loose" is underrated, and should have been a hit. Very catchy heavy guitar riff, catchy lyrics, and one of the most epic guitar solos in the middle of a song I've ever heard. Great tune.

"A Million To One" is great, Paul Stanley puts the best of his vocal range into this one. The guitar riff is somewhat simple, yet thunderous, the solo in the middle of the song is gorgeous. Paul puts his heart and soul into the vocals on this song.

"Fit's Like a Glove" is 100% pure hard rock greatness. Fast, mean, beastly, monstrous, thunderous. You name it, it's exactly that. This songs starts with a fast guitar riff, and gets louder and faster until the end. If anyone tries to tell you KISS can't play their instruments, play this song in their face and prove them wrong. This song literally kicks you in the balls and leaves you on the ground asking for more.

"Dance All Over Your Face" is a big heavy guitar riff, followed by big heavy vocals once again by Gene. Just a thunderous beauty, along with an epic outro.

"And on the 8th Day" in my opinion qualifies as one of KISS' most underrated songs. Classic guitar riff, cool lyrics, great monstrous vocals and an amazingly catchy chorus. One of KISS' best songs. This song would sound amazing on the radio, but of course, it never gets played."
