Spotlight on the king sisters
Maureen M. Mclaughlin | 03/15/2000
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This compilation is simply fantastic. The King Sisters' blend ought to get them a crown in the Music Hall of Fame. Their gorgeous close harmony swings in cuts like 'Take the A Train' and the wordless 'Four Brothers' demonstartes the girls' vocalese. Give a quiet listen to the sensuous 'Nearness of You', and their jazz interp of 'What's New' is way cool. 'Early Autumn' is just plain gorgeous, and though their version of 'Imagaination' was the most hit oriented song on the Cd, each of the 18 selections is a winner. Capitol, please issue more of this hip, cool quartette. They are one of the best in recorded sound, no kiddin'."
One of the best sister acts

"I have been a fan of the King Sisters since I was 12 years old back in 1965.I have loved their harmonies! This album proves that!!It is a wonderful put together piece. The sweet harmonies come thru in one of my favorite songs "whats new"- right on down to the last song "aloha oe".Saddly 2 of the King Sisters have passed away,Alyce and Luise but baby sister Marilyn King is still going strong and still does some concert dates.I just hope that Capitol would put more cd's out that showcase the beautiful songs of The King Sisters!!!!!!Give this CD a listen you won't be disappointed!!!!!!!!!"
One spectacular CD

"This is quite an amazing piece of work. The arrangements are outstanding, and the band is smoking. The whole thing just reeks of quality. The flawlessness of the execution is also amazing, especially considering that these recordings are from the mid to late fifties, prior to technology that made fixing things easier. The sonics of this CD are also quite incredible. In a word, it sounds great."
