CD Reviews

Almost complete!

"Excellent supplement to the remasters and other compilations that have been saturating the world of Killing Joke. In fact, with the latest four reissues and these songs here, we're about complete with all the 12 inch mixes and b-sides. TWO PROBLEMS: if you want Eighties (Serious Dance Mix), download the Wilful Days version. The WD version is the full 8 minute version, the RMXD version gets cut off at 6 minutes. Problem 1 solved. If you want the Kings and Queens (A Right Royal Mix), umm... well, you're S.O.L. The version on RMXD gets cut off at 3:57 (and I do mean "cut off"). The real Right Royal mix is 4:52. Aside from that, all is well. They even got the names correct (unlike Wilful Days that mislabled LLB (Gestalt Mix) and A New Day). Oh, and the Blue Feather (Extended Mix) has vocals, as does the Joke Mix on the remaster. Jester would be proud."
Considering the recent remasters, why ignore the remixes?

"Not much to add to the excellent review already posted here, but one item of note. Despite being a 2008 release, these tracks do not appear to be remastered like the rest of the catalogue. There's a fairly significant difference in the audio levels from track to track on this CD, with overall levels being fairly low. A quick look through the liner notes reveals that these remixes and b-sides apparently didn't receive the remastering treatment. Not a huge deal (especially if you use a program like mp3Gain to correct audio levels after transferring to your computer), but surprising considering the care that was taken in regard to packaging and liner notes for this release. Still a worthy pickup for any Killing Joke fan, as it's great to have these remixes finally collected on CD."
