JUST REMEMBER, singer/songwriter Kevin Marvelle?s debut CD offers a collection of 13 original compositions that will make you think and make you want to dance. The lyrics are reminiscent of the political and social commentary of Bob Dylan, as well as the romantic views offered by Joni Mitchell. The music features a percussive acoustic guitar style that combines elements of Richie Haven?s open-tuned strumming and Livingston Taylor?s finger-picking. The collection includes contemporary folk songs similar to those by Tom Rush and James Taylor; blue-eyed soul suggestive of Van Morrison and Hall and Oates; and down home country tunes evocative of Don Williams and Dan Fogelberg. The performers on this CD include some of the most talented musicians in the Washington, DC area: Zan McLeod (mandolin and guitar), Mark Bruininga (keyboards), Mary Ann Redmond (vocals), Bruce Swaim (saxophone and flute), Robbie Magruder (drums), Jon Carroll (piano and accordion), and Jason Byrd (vocals).
