CD ReviewsUnique, modern, brilliant James Honaker | montana | 03/11/2009 (5 out of 5 stars) "I know Keith Jarrett was persuaded to record with Kenny Wheeler by Manfred Eicher. Who cares. The "star in his own right" sideman category really doesn't exist anymore in Jazz. Too bad. This combination of band leaders creates a sense of controlled freedom like nothing I have ever heard. Although this recording is over thirty years old, it still represents superb, modern Jazz players at their best with no sense of ego or agenda. I loved this recording when it came out in 1976?, and it has lost none of its appeal. Young musicians should study this for how to create music that is both free and melodic. I am growing a bit tired of hearing young guys and gals playing tired warhorses out of the Real Book. Enough academia."
