CD Reviews

Kenny Swings
Ben Fernandez | Boston, MA | 11/09/2005
(4 out of 5 stars)

"Not surprisingly, this cd is mostly swing, although there is one song that is about as close to straight blues as any song I've ever heard Kenny Burrell play (It's called "The Squeeze"); and Jack McDuff does play on one other song. Anyway, the cd is very enjoyable to listen to. From the pictures on the cover, this is a very young Kenny. If you are in to guitar, he looks and sounds like he is playing a single coil gibson hollowbody (incredible vintage jazz tone). The recording is very well done, and the song choice is also excellent. Highly recommended!"
Nice swinging affair

"A very good record - more swinging than usual heard from Mr. Burrell. Brilliant variations in musicians and Fabulous swing work from Illinois Jacquet.. Songs to hear as an appetizer is:

Moten Swing, Bluesin around and Swich which really Rocks"
