The Folk Sounds Of A Jazzman
Micke Östlund | Växjö, Sweden | 07/09/2000
(4 out of 5 stars)

"Restoration Ruin is Keith Jarretts input into the late 60's folkpop scene. And it' a good input. Keith plays several instruments (eleven to be exact), sings and has even made the arrangements for a string quartet. The ten songs are nicely done in a way that reminds of the late 60's singer/songwriter Bob Lind. Keith shows that if he had worked more to make this kind of music perhaps he could have made himself another sucessful parallell career. Yes, all in all a very nice atempt by a jazzman to make something entirely different. And as the backliner notes points out on the original LP, Keith might not sing as well as Donovan or play as goood as Segovia, but he sure does sing better than Segovia and he easily outplays Donovan. And write nice little tunes."
