CD Reviews

This is new. This is good.

"This album is a spectacular piece of work. On Kaddisfly's EP, a couple of the songs felt out of place and even a bit awkward. But on "Set Sail the Prairie" everything works. Each song acts as a movement to compliment the whole. "Winter Solstice" serves as an appropriate intermission after the catchy "Empire" and is followed by "Snowflakes" which brings back memories of smoke and the Dark Side. Even though the sound gratefully takes the appropriate influences from Incubus and Floyd, any borrowing serves only as a polite nod, and as a listener can only make me smile and share in Kaddisfly's appreciation and thanks to such muses.

"Set Sail" is truly an album to make a listening event out of, and Kaddisfly puts on just as good of a show. They are opening for the Take Action tour with Red Jumpsuit Apparatus right now, and the event is highly recommended. Get tickets and make sure to get there early enough to see these guys. They have broken the mold, and if America's listeners can break their own molds enough to realize that "emo" is an expired, naive label, then Kaddisfly will get the respect and appreciation that they deserve."

"I've been a huge fan of dredg for many years, and on a fan message board, www.traversingboard.com , I heard multiple times about a band called kaddisfly. After repeatedly seeing the name and the reviews I decided to check them out on myspace and the songs listed were amazing. I purchased this album two days ago and I have only put it down to sleep and to work. Starting off with a little `welcome' type song "summer solstice", the album instantly starts up with "campfire", almost with an Incubus type vibe. The rest of the album is just beautiful, as it puts you on a rollercoaster of sounds... some songs are so beautiful that they can put you to sleep, but can quickly change into a rush of head banging guitar riffs. I've only heard better about their earlier release. I will definitely be checking that out and I will definitely see them if they come in the area. Must buy!"
Enough with the "post-hardcore" Incubus

"This is Kaddisfly, a band that deserves a lot more than direct comparisons to the mega popular band Incubus. If people can't get past the fact that the singer sounds somewhat similar to Brandon Boyd, than I'm sorry you are not a good listener. Kaddisfly creates sweeping, textured music that captures your mind, body, and soul (for real). Great mix of muscular, and subtle sounds from the musicians. The vocals however are incredible, impressive falsetto's, and sometimes powerfully intense. Not to mention the wonderful 12 month concept album (every song represents a month), which progresses perfectly."
