CD Reviews

The Supreme Julie Wilson!!
HP Cohen | 06/19/2009
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Julie Wilson is the supreme cabaret performer. Her vocalistics are always prime. She has a styling that is all her own, never sounding like or attempting to be like any other singer. She can do all kinds of songs with her unique voice and is always perfection!

She has done some movie work (especially impressive as a cabaret performer in "This Could Be The Night" with Anthony Franciosa, Jean Simmons and Joan Blondell), has appeared on stage in Kiss Me Kate, Jimmy and Legs Diamond and other musicals and has been on TV. But she is most impressive and always prime in cabaret and the nightclub scene.

This recording captured at the St Regis in NYC in the fifties features the wonderful Miss Wilson at her scintillating best with a lot of special material, as well as more familiar tunes like Married I Can Always Get, What is There to Say and Most Gentlemen Don't Like Love. She totally captivates her audience with sexy refrains and a smoky and wonderful voice that slithers and slides over each and every note. She is playful with her audience and leaves them wanting more.

Having seen this incredible and beautiful lady in person over the years, I can vouch for the fact that an evening with Miss Julie Wilson is an unforgettable experience. The lady sizzles!!

The next best thing to being in one of her audiences is listening to her recordings and this one is first rate!!"
A rare treat

"Must for any fan of Ms Wilson's. Her sly and insinuating delivery of the special material is a treat, and her rendition of such standards as Married I can Always get, What is there to say, Most gentlemen dont like love show the true artist she has become over the years. You will enjoy it more each time you play it"
