Synopsis

Album Description
World-renowned harpist Judy Loman has chosen a collection of Baroque pieces she originally learned to play on the piano. Says Judy, "Salzedo used to say that one should never transcribe a work written for another instrument unless by doing so the work would be enhanced. I am not sure that I am that altruistic in my reasons for these transcriptions, because to be honest, I have transcribed them for the pure joy of being able to play them on what has become my main instrument. I do believe, though, that the quality and colors of the harp sound have added a special dimension to the music on this CD."

CD Reviews

Delightful and varied

"I have listened to this lovely CD countless times and never tire of it.

Judy Loman's interpretation is exquisite. The selections are uniformly excellent, varying greatly in mood as they progress. Most surprising to me is how music of such delicacy can be so profoundly evocative. The moods shift from sparkling brilliance, shimmering with exultation, to evoking the twilight of a sepulcher.

I most highly recommend this CD to anyone who loves the harp and music of the Baroque."
